Does Google Adsense Build Credibility?
Do you have a credible Website that uses Google Adsense? And to clarify my definition of credible, I mean a Website that doesn’t emphasize it as the main reason to bring visitors in. (For all you click farmers out there.)
The reason why asking this question, is to get a feel from Google Adsense users that use it to enhance their visitor experience and not their bankroll. I wish to say that my view on using Adsense was neutral, however I believe that Websites that employ Google Adsense as a revenue opportunity generally give me negative feelings about the content quality. Often I am left with the question “Why am I here? Make you money or have an enriched online experience?”
When I originally developed iBlogMarketing, I decided from the get go to can the whole idea of using Google Adsense. Not to say I am opposed of offering advertising opportunities on our Blog or other Internet Properties, but content search engine advertising networks offer little in the ways of ad control or quality. Simply put, I view advertising on any Internet property as a small endorsement by the Web publisher that also influences its credibility.
Allow me to illustrate my point:
Would you give more credibility to a Mattress company that displayed an ad on a reputable furniture site or a Blog that mentioned a Mattress in one of its posts? Yes, you might say that the furniture Website is more relevant to the sought need in this example. However, you might allude to the fact that the furniture company is endorsing product because they carry that type of mattress in stock and believe that it best fits their marketing mix for their audience.
For the Adsense Web publisher, he or she in effect wasted a valuable “page view” that could have translated into more revenue and could have built credibility. Isn’t that worth the effort to choose your revenue opportunities that offer more executable control?
