5 Tips To Get Your Shopping Comparison Advertising Ready For The Holidays

Shopping Comparison WebsitesCan you believe it? Halloween has come and gone, Thanksgiving is right around the corner, which means Christmas and a whole new year is on its way. Do you have an online shopping comparison advertising strategy? The good news is that its not too late as long as your in for a little hard work and a big payoff.

  • Focus On The Primary Engines- there are literally 100’s of shopping comparison websites on the web, but you really only need to focus on a few. Although I don’t have the latest statistics, there are a couple of clear winners of the bunch:
  • Build a Quality Datafeed- probably one of the most challenging tasks will be building your datafeed. Take your time and make sure you fill in as many form fields as possible to ensure your feeds integrity. If you plan to submit your feed to multiple shopping engines, I recommend a shopping channel solution such as Merchant Advantage or Singlefeed.
  • Optimize Your Datafeed- make sure you use keyword rich text in your titles and descriptions. A good practice is to also include your model number in the title because shopping comparison users will likely use model numbers to narrow their search and compare pricing.
  • Update & Submit Your Feed Frequently- all the engines have similar but slightly different submission guidelines. The best way to ensure a fresh feed and improve your rankings is to submit your feed everyday. This can get to be a tedious task unless you get yourself a software solution as I mentioned above.
  • Optimize Your Campaigns at the Product Level with Conversion Tracking- almost all the above engines offer conversion tracking and the top three engines: shopping.com, Shopzilla, and NexTag offer product level bidding. By simply learning which products are selling, you can easily optimize your bidding strategy to increase your ROI.

So what are you waiting for? Get going…there is still time left!
